C. verticillata varieties are more open with thread-leaf, lacy foliage. Most organic mulches should be applied after plants are well-established and when there is reasonably good soil moisture. Plants that look thin and leggy can be forced to produce more lateral growth by shearing or pinching off the growing point of each stem. The white blooms turn to a lovely dusty pink or vintage rose color as the season progresses into fall. Magenta-purple flowers atop compact, mounding leaves.
